Debut EP on the way from Stacey

CANADIAN musician Stacey will release her debut, self-titled EP on December 5th.

Stacey got in touch with RealSoundsOK to tell us about the album, which is produced by Alex Bonenfant (Crystal Castles, Metz).

She said: "The songs are where my devices are laid bare.

"Start minimalism. Waterfalls of cathedral reverb.

"Raw intimacy with the endless haze of sultry summer synth. Melodies rife with the delicacy of raw, unadulterated romance. Lyrics emanating a requiem for often unrequited love.

"Technicolor production with microscopic details. The sad ending sensual. A lot with very little."

Beautiful, and far better put than I ever could.

Stacey is also moving with the times and the album will be release on 2GB USB cards with no two the same. You can click here to have a sneak peak.

Have a listen below to the first single Worst Part and if you like what you hear visit facebook.com/staceymusic for more information

Raven X Q&A

Your names:
Khâos - all music & instruments.
Nÿx - all lyrics and vocals.

Where are you from?

Ohio, USA.

Name of band:

Raven X.

How would you describe yourselves?
Nÿx: The music takes you on so many different emotions. I don't think there is just one label to put us under. It's strong and in your face at times, but it also changes and takes you to a completely different ride at times.

Who are your main influences musically?
Nyx: I have so many!!! Mikael Akerfeldt from Opeth, Karyn Crisis from Crisis, Anneke Van Giersbergen, Bjork, Ihsahn.
Khâos: Ihsahn, Steven Wilson of Porcupine Tree, Starofash, Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

What do you hope to achieve in music?
Nÿx: All of it! hahaha. I just hope people enjoy this CD enough to keep going back to it. To play Raven X live is definitely another dream also.

What has been the highlight of your career so far, and why?
Khâos: The release of our debut CD "Essence Without Light" would have to be the highlight so far. After years of work, to finally see the day come that the album was released to the public was a very exciting day!!

And what’s the moment you want to forget?
Khâos: There is really nothing that I would like to forget. Everything we have gone through has help us to learn and move forward. It hasn't all been fun, but I wouldn't change anything.

If you had to choose just one of your songs to represent your music, what would it be and why?
Khâos: It's tough to pick just one because each of our songs have a different quality to them. We really tried to make an album that didn't sound the same from track to track. If I had to chose just one song. I would probably have to say it would be "Broken Light" because it contains many of the qualities and dynamics that are found in the other songs.

Debut video from Womb

CANADIAN outfit Womb have released their debut music video for the track Baby Don't Love Me.

The track is taken from the band's debut four-track EP, which you can download from here - wombofficial.bandcamp.com

Chris from Womb told RealSoundsOK: "The video features a fairly harmless premise. Womb sets up to play in my girlfriend's bedroom. She's asleep and is super-pissed when she wakes to find us rocking out.

"She takes revenge. The violence we endure would seem excessive and brutal, if it weren't so awesome.

"Hope you like your jazzy-garage-punk with nun-chucks, guns, chains and enough blood to fill a hospital."

Check out the video above and for more information visit www.facebook.com/wombofficial

Watkins admits child sex offences

DEPRAVED fuckwit Ian Watkins - formerly of Welsh rock band Lostprophets - has pleaded guilty to series of child sex offences included the attempted rape of a baby.

The 36-year-old from Pontypridd had previously denied the charges against him, but changed his plea on the first day of his trial at Cardiff Crown Court.

Two women standing trial alongside him - who cannot be named for reasons of UK law - also admitted sexually abusing their own children and making them available to Watkins.

All three will be sentenced at a later date. For more details on this disturbing case, please read the full news report from the BBC here - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-25108439

And please, go home and destroy your Lostprophets albums, t-shirts, hoodies, etc and if you work for a radio station or music channel, please never play their songs again to stop this sickening waste of skin and oxygen getting any royalties.

Kiirstin Marilyn Q&A

Your name:
Kiirstin Marilyn.

Where are you from?
New York City by way of the Jersey Shore.

Who else is in your band?
I'm a solo artist but I do currently have two amazing band members that play with me at shows, bassist and synth player John Shilkoski, and drummer Matt Reardon.

How would you describe yourselves?
I am a rocker chick that somehow got stuck in this pop game, trying to find a happy marriage between the rock that I love and the pop that I seem to be predestined towards.  I'm a performer first, and I think that's apparent in my shows. I love to give a performance everything I have and leave it all on the stage.

Who are your main influences musically?
Musically I am influenced by everyone I've ever heard, but some lasting major influences have been Incubus, Lana Del Rey, Coheed & Cambria, Glassjaw, Fall Out Boy, Gwen Stefani & No Doubt, Justin Timberlake, The Beatles, Elvis. I mean honesty the list goes on and on. I try to even listen to new stuff when I'm creating new stuff.

What do you hope to achieve in music?
I'm not out for fame or mansions. Like Lorde says, "we'll never be royals" ;) I just hope to achieve a level of success in music that allows me to finally quit all those freelance jobs I do for money and pursue music full time. I want to travel the world performing and creating music, meeting new people that have the same love for music and creation that I do, and not have to worry that my bills aren't being paid while I do it.

What has been the highlight of your career so far, and why?
I actually got to work on my last EP with Todd Weinstock, a former member of one of my major influences, Glassjaw, which was kind of amazing. Todd is also in a band called Get Involved who just recently recorded a four-song EP with the legendary Ross Robinson who also happens to be the producer of Glassjaw's Worship & Tribute. I got to fly out to LA and spend a couple days at Ross's house while they recorded. I got to be a fly on the wall during vocal recording sessions which were incredible, and then I got to actually go into the booth and record backing vocals - the feeling of being behind the mic with Ross Robinson on the other end is indescribable. Definitely a highlight in my career.

And what’s the moment you want to forget?
I don't know that I want to forget any moments because I learn from the bad ones. But I guess one of the worst moments in music for me was in my first band.  We were playing a pretty big competition at Starland Ballroom in New Jersey, and my bassist was clearly high or drunk or something. He was having all these technical issues that had he been sober he probably could have figured out. He wound up walking off stage in the middle of a song.  It was quite embarrassing. Needless to say we did not win. Other moments that I'd truly like to forget are better left unmentioned for the sake of myself and all parties involved. Ha. Let's just say my relationship with my first drummer was more than that of a business nature and THAT was really stupid - but I learned from it and would never even get in a relationship with another musician ever again in my life ;)

If you had to pick just one of your songs to represent your music, what would it be and why?
I would probably pick my newest song The Struggle, because as artist we are ever evolving and I think our latest creations are always the best representation of who we currently are. However, I also love my song Grim. Before The Struggle I would have said that song. Everything from the music to the lyrics is exactly how I wanted it on that song, which is not something I can say for all my songs.

Where can we listen to it?

Anything else you’d like to say about your band/music that I forgot to ask?
Hmmmm...I don't think so, not about me anyway. I just want to say, which I believe RealSoundsOK promotes well,  is to be yourself, find your own voice, and find your own music. Don't listen to what mainstream media tells you is good. Discover what you like and support that music to the fullest. Without support of fans, original musicians cannot survive and continue. Don't get caught up in the games played by shows like Idol and X factor. They are glorified karaoke shows with big money behind them. They are about making more money for the creators & producers of the show, and not really about making someone's dreams come true; that's just the front that they put on while they rake the money in. Go to shows and support your local music scene.  Don't let corporations dictate what music is. We know what music is, and we should fight to protect it.

Faded Definition Q&A

Your name:
Lerew.

Where are you from?
Denver, Colorado.

Name of band:
Faded Definition.

Who else is in your band?
Currently, I'm the only member, but my producer and I have some things in the works, and FD should be playing shows by early 2014.

How would you describe yourselves?
FD is a mix of djenty progressive metal and classical orchestral music.

Who are your main influences musically?
My influences are all over the place, I listen to everything from Job For a Cowboy to the Rat Pack. For the most part, metal bands draw influence from other metal bands, which is great. But I feel that this has lead to most of our scene sounding very similar, and it makes it a lot harder to distinguish between bands. Personally, I'd say I get most of my influences from film soundtracks, and I feel like that brings a unique element to my music.

What do you hope to achieve in music?
In my music career, I hope to I hope to achieve a platinum album. I honestly cant remember the last time a metal band made a platinum record, so I'd say it's about time!

What has been the highlight of your career so far, and why?
So far, the highlight of my career has probably been the release of my last EP "Onward to Dawn". When most bands put out a second release, they usually receive a ton of negative feedback from their fans, (Which is what I was prepared for due to the sound of OtD being heavily different than that of its predecessor As The City Burns). But I really haven't gotten anything other than positive feedback, which is great! Now my only hope is that I can live up to all their expectations for the full length!

And what’s the moment you want to forget?
Don't have one!

If you had to pick just one of your songs to represent your music, what would it be and why?
That's a hard one. But I would probably say "The Deceiver". It exhibits a lot of FD's heavier and less heavy stylization, and it's probably also my personal favorite as well.

Where can we listen to it?
You can find links to everything I've done at facebook.com/fadeddefinition
YouTube videos, download links for both Onward to Dawn, and As The City Burns, and even pre production teasers for the new full length.

Where can we find out more about your music?
To find out more about FD, you can follow us on really any social network. For the most straightforward information, Facebook is definitely the best place. I'm also on Twitter @Faded_Def. The Twitter is mostly just a bunch of trolling and jokes, but you can still learn more about the band there as well.
Were also on Reverbnation, Bandcamp, Amazon, iTunes, eMusic, and a bunch of other online retailers.

Anything else you’d like to say about your band/music that I forgot to ask?
I'm currently working on a new full length, which will be a concept album concluding the story which began in Onward to Dawn. Keep your eyes open for it early next year!

The Klassiks Q&A

Your name:
Joey Mora.

Where are you from?
Los Angeles, California, USA.

Name of band:
The Klassiks.

Who else is in your band?
No one.

How would you describe yourselves?
A producer/engineer.

Who are your main influences musically?
Diplo, Skrillex, Dr Luke.

What do you hope to achieve in music?
I'd like to be able to travel and tour 300 days a year working with artists and playing music all over the world.

What has been the highlight of your career so far, and why?
Building a brand, The Pirates, with my buisness partners and artists. I would also have to say watching JohnBoyCOOL and Rion Knuckles develop their artistry and musical direction.

If you had to pick just one of your songs to represent your music, what would it be and why?
I don't think it'd be fair to myself to pick just one song that represents my music because as a producer I've worked on every type of music. I think coming out soon will be some of my best productions. Some of the tracks I've done for Rion Knuckles Boiling Point EP & JohnBoyCOOLs MindGamesAndMixedSignals mixtape will showcase that.

Where can we listen to it?

Where can we find out more about your music?

Anything else you’d like to say about your band/music that I forgot to ask?
If you're a fan and support what I'm doing or my artists and label are doing please buy our Merch and music (if you can afford to), come to our shows, download our music, watch our videos. We are independent label so every last bit of support is more the an appreciated.

She Was Loud Q&A

Your name:
Diz.

Where are you from?
Melbourne, Australia.

Name of band:
She Was Loud.

Who else is in your band?
Jess Molenarr (Vocals), Chris Liesis (Guitar), Murray Lawson (Vocals), Paul Instance (Guitars/Vocals), Peter Hayden (Drums), diz (Guitar/bass/vocals).

How would you describe yourselves?
90’s grunge homesick aliens.

Who are your main influences musically?
We were teenagers during the 90s so pretty much all the bands that came along with that era, that’s where the heart is for this project.

What do you hope to achieve in music?
Our music is a time machine for those 90’s kids that miss that old school grungey alternative music.
Also I think writing music is the easy part for bands and musicians, I think promoting yourself and getting your songs out there is the side we generally struggle with. We often joke that we would spend a lot of time on our tracks only to then just ‘put it in a draw’. A lot of us out there put a lot of heart and soul into what we do only to have it rejected by the majority who listen to it, but that’s the game, you got to have a thick skin, don’t take it personally and keep running up that hill. So for us just getting our music heard and out there and keeping it out of the draw is what we want to achieve. Now with the advances of sites like YouTube and social media it makes it a lot easier to be heard than it did when we were teenagers.

What has been the highlight of your career so far, and why?
We are just babies band wise, so creating a five-song EP that we are extremely proud of is our highlight to date.

And what’s the moment you want to forget?
Well this band only nine months old so I haven’t really had time to sleep with anyone’s girlfriend yet…just joking. But we all have a played together in other projects on and off for the last 10+ years. I remember I booked a gig in a venue that everyone thought we had outgrown, it was a dive, the PA was a piece of shit, the crowd wasn’t into our style and the guitarist had four of his ex-girlfriends there plus his current girlfriend making up 50 per cent of a 10 person crowd. Anyway the guitarist left his beer on his amp and halfway through the first song it vibrated onto his amp and short circuited the amp, he then had to plug in directly to the shitty PA creating an even shittier guitar sound, we had two singers in the band and one of their mics broke during the second song so they had to share a mic and during the third song the drummer broke his kick drum skin! That was the finale to the worst gig ever! But it did teach me to never think you are too good for a venue and always give it 100 per cent no matter how big or small the crowd is, even if half the crowd are psycho women wanting your guitarist head on a stick!

If you had to pick just one of your songs to represent your music, what would it be and why?
All Along The Way – It’s heartbreaking and uplifting and sums us up nicely I think.

Where can we listen to it?

Where can we find out more about your music?

Anything else you’d like to say about your band/music that I forgot to ask?

The Chicago LOUD9 Q&A

Name of band:
The Chicago LOUD9 (cLOUD9).

Where are you from?
Chicago, Illinois.

Who else is in your band?
Bryan Pray - vocalist
Don D. (Pro Blak) - emcee
Chad Wynes - guitars
Phil Fensel - bass
Marc Gee - synth
Jasen Brown - keys/hand percussion/backflips
Paulie Geidreitis - trumpet
Kenny Cichon - sax
Kyle Voivodas - drums

How would you describe yourselves?
Chicago Loud 9 is a group that blends veteran funk rockers, indie-reggae horn players, and MC Don D. cLOUD9 creates a unique blend of hip-hop, funk rock, alternative, and indie pop that translates into an infectious sound that bridges people from across all types of cultures. No matter what your tastes or influences, there’s something about this band that draws you in. This musical collective has a combined 15 years of pro gigging experience between us and we are extremely serious about our craft.

Who are your main influences musically?
Having nine people in a band means that you have a ridiculous number of influences coming together. Bryan and Chad were born and raised on early 90's grunge and alt funk. Don D lives for hip hop. Marc is an encyclopedia of 60's and 70's jam bands. Phil loves hard, Kyle and Jasen are big on indie rock. Our horn section (Paul and Kenny)  have roots in reggae, jazz, and funk as well. All of us have a passion for independent music and we've all been deep in the local Chicago music scene. We champion artists who are trying new things, from folk rock to dub step.

What do you hope to achieve in music?
All of us share the same goal of wanting to spread our sound wide enough that people from across the planet can share our music. Our passion for music is what gets us through the hard work days and late practices. We want the chance to play music for the rest of our lives and will travel countless miles to do it. We're blessed to have passion, creativity, and amazing chemistry with nine of the coolest, most talented musicians in Chicago and we would like to take it as far as we can.

What has been the highlight of your career so far, and why?
Our record release party earlier was probably the height of our career thus far. We're about to release our first official music video and we're playing The Metro, one of the most legendary venues in Chicago. Ask us in six months and we'll probably have a whole new set of highlights!

And what’s the moment you want to forget?
It is funny now but at the time we had to start a show without Ken our saxophone player because he lost his sax (laughter). Luckily for us he was able to find it and we were able to rock out the rest of the night.

If you had to pick just one of your songs to represent your music, what would it be and why?
Our first single, After Party, really embodies the spirit that brought us together. It sort of showcases our best talents and sets up the whole tone of what we're about: Forget your crazy, stressful lives for a few minutes and lose yourself in the moment. Be right here, right now, dancing your ass off and remember that life is short and you've gotta find time to enjoy it. With that said, our sound is evolving and we are really proud and excited for people to hear what our sound is becoming.

Where can we listen to it?

Where can we find out more about your music?
Anything else you’d like to say about your band/music that I forgot to ask?
There are so many amazingly talented artists coming out of Chicago and this band is a really good example of what can happen when they work together. We brought all of these talented musicians together to rock the doors off of House of Blues and it turned out to be the best collaboration any of us had ever attempted. A lot of people are afraid to take risks or some people talk about being innovative at length. It's 100% more satisfying to be putting your best foot forward and be the one out there actually doing it.
