Forever Can Wait Q&A

Your name:
Toby Leonard.

Where are you from?
Southampton/Milton Keynes, England.

Name of band:
Forever Can Wait.

Who else is in your band?
Tash Crump, Liam Baker, Will Wilson and Luke Gould.

How would you describe yourselves?
We play angsty, aggressive post-hardcore with sweet melodic vocals.

Who are your main influences musically?
Emarosas vocal style mixed with interesting chords influenced by Chiodos and Sigur Ros. Luke is really into indie music and my drumming draws its sound from bands such as Hey Vanity/Fei Comodo, You Me At Six and Night Verses.

What do you hope to achieve in music?
We hope that eventually we start playing big shows and make our way up to play the big stadiums one day. Ultimately, if we’re playing the music we like and people enjoy it too, that’s all we can ask for.

What has been the highlight of your career so far, and why?
Playing Download 2013 was absolutely incredible. We were so honoured to share the poster with bands that we looked up to as kids such as Iron Maiden, Slipknot and Limp Bizkit and the reaction we got made us so stoked to be a part of such a massive festival. Despite the nerves and excitement, we played our best show to date and it was an unforgettable weekend.

And what’s the moment you want to forget?
Me getting drunk the first day of getting into the studio to record our EP ‘Beauty&Grace’. Luke stripped me down to my birthday suit and there is 20 minutes of video footage of me trying to get into bed. No one needs to see or remember that!

If you had to pick just one of your songs to represent your music, what would it be and why?
Rest, because it was the first song that made people realise the pop-punk thing isn't us any more. We tried so hard to get away from the Paramore label and to finally hear people saying it was more like Letlive was humbling and also very gratifying to know people liked it and it was a definite move in the right direction!

Where can we listen to it?
It’s on youtube at this link: www.youtube.com/watch?v=QhdEZSXPP30
