Broken Links Q&A

Your name:
Phil Boulter (Drums).

Where are you from?
Southampton, Hampshire, UK.

Name of band:
Broken Links.

Who else is in your band?
Mark Lawrence (Vocals, Guitars and Programming) and Lewis Betteridge (Bass).

How would you describe yourselves?
Sin-filled alternative electro-rock. Think Depeche Mode meets NIN, meets pop!

Who are your main influences musically?
Everybody from Joy Division, Depeche Mode, and Nine Inch Nails to Manic Street Preachers, The Cooper Temple Clause and Bush!

What do you hope to achieve in music?
Getting as many people around the world to hear our tracks and perform them in as many venues that a Vauxhall Zafira will get us to. In this incredibly competitive industry we're happy that promoters book us at the moment.

What has been the highlight of your career so far, and why?
We've been lucky enough to embark on several short tours of Europe which have probably been the highlight so far. That and packing-out our local venue every once in a while, the infamous Joiners Arms.

And what’s the moment you want to forget?
Almost losing our Zafira to an underground German car park on a dull Sunday afternoon a couple of years ago. About 20 minutes of persistence to the German doorman via an intercom paid off, though! Bad times.

If you had to pick just one of your songs to represent your music, what would it be and why?
That has to be Within Isolation. Its one of our older songs so has nearly always been in our live set, it has a great music video and a killer riff! It always gets lots of positive comments too which is always a treat.

Where can we listen to it?

Where can we find out more about your music?

Anything else you’d like to say about your band/music that I forgot to ask?
This year should see the release of our second full length album which will be completed by next month. We'll also be releasing our first single from the new album complete with music video which we shot in London a few weeks ago. We're also booking lots of gigs across the UK and Europe throughout the year so look out for the show announcements and come and say hello!
